Our founder, Michelle, brings over a decade of hands-on experience in the beauty and fashion industries. Before moving to the U.S., she spent years managing boutiques in Shanghai, traveling across China to explore the beauty rituals of more than 20 different ethnic cultures, and developing a unique perspective on elegance — one that balances refinement, cultural depth, and natural expression.
After immigrating to California and rebuilding her life as a single mother, Michelle returned to the industry with even deeper clarity: that real beauty is not about imitation — it’s about becoming more yourself. That philosophy is the heart of Essence Beauty.
